Maccaroni Osteria Italiana, (in Clifton Hill, with great vegan options!)

My friend Jacqui found out i love lasagna (because of Garfield haha!) and so she told me about one of her favourite places to get italian food, Maccaroni Osteria Italiana in Clifton Hill. I decided to go on an adventure to Clifton Hill and check it out!

It was pleasant night! (First night of Spring this year!).

When i finally found the restaurant, (which was conveniently quite close to Clifton Hill station) i stepped inside and immediately felt a warm, cosy vibe. The place looks nice!

I sat down and the lovely waittress handed me a menu, and i took some time reading it, although i had already made up my mind what i was going to order hehehe (lasagna! :D).

So i ordered a lasagna and a coke! I just love coke with my pasta for some odd reason!

While i was waiting, i saw this on the table:

I looked like croutons or something to me, and i assumed thats what it was! But i wasnt 100% sure.. it possibly could have been some crazy potpourri or something haha! But i was hungry so i just picked one up and bit into it!

Yum!! It was edible hahaah! Phew 🙂 and delicious too. I ate all of them before my food came, i couldnt really stop haha.

And then my lasagna came out:

Looks good right? 🙂

Add some cheese…

And then dig in! 🙂

It was so flavoursome, yes!! Great tomato taste. And it was just the perfect amount of slight firmness/chewiness for me! I had a good time eating that 🙂 so much so i wven forgot to drink much of my coke during the meal hehe.

Then for dessert, i ordered an almond tart with custard and apple:

Also delicious! And flavours!

I love places that obviously put a lot of thought and care into their food, and this place obviously does!

I definitely recommend checking this place out if you feel like italian. Especially if you need a place with delicious vegan options! 🙂

Maccaroni Osteria Italiana is at 201 Queens parade Clifton Hill.

Edit:

I came back here again with Jacqui, Ted and Mo and it was so good once again! I ordered the gnocchi and it was so great. So soft mmmmmmmm

Love it! Yummmmmmm

Smith and Deli, vegan place in Fitzroy. One of my FAV places to get food! Amazing

Ok, i already did a post about Smith and Deli, but i really do need to make another one. It is definitely one of my favourite places to eat in Melbourne now, and i am not even a vegan! The food is so delicious. Its obviously made by people who care about quality and taste (and animals!). Every thing ive bought from here has been exceptionally good! Ive had rolls, donuts, sandwiches, coffee!

I came today specifically because Jacqui told me the pastry wizards here were making little cherry pies this week! And since i am in Twin Peaks mode, i just had to come try one.

And Jacqui decorated my bag!! Ahhhh… i love ittttt 😀

And John, one of my vegan friends told me he always gets a pie here, so i had to try one. And wow

It was chicken and something else (i wasnt paying 100% to what the pie ingredients were when i was told, because my brain was mostly focussed on the cherry pie and chatting to Jacqui about Twin Peaks! :)). But wow! It was one of the best pies ive had! Such flavour! 🙂

So everything i try here is so good! Ive been messaging all my vegan and vegetarian friends to tell them about this place, but it seems they already know of it, and say its like their favourite place haha!

So if u are a vegan or vegetarian who doesnt know about this place, or if u are just a person who loves yummy food… come check out this place! Its at 111 Moor st Fitzroy. Its not a sit down and eat place, its very much like a deli, where you buy your stuff and go eat somewhere else. Luckily there is a lovely little park very close by 🙂

Smith and Deli, vegan heaven :D

I came here with Emily because one of their staff, the lovely Jacqueline, is a mad Twin Peaks fan and they were doing Twin Peaks themed drinks and had cherry pie!

Once i was here, i just had to try their food as well! Jacqueline recommended the faux cheese and pesto sandwich, so i got that!

And because i was in a Twin Peaks mood, of course i have to get a donut!

It was cinnamon and it was damn fine!! 🙂

Im learning that vegan food can be so delicious!

They also sell a big variety of vegan products, like chocolate and icecream and other delicious stuff!

Its not a place where you sit and eat, but you buy your delicious goods and then eat somewhere else! Its got such a nice welcoming vibe! I really love this place 🙂

Its at 111 Moor St in Fitzroy

Me with Jacqueline, holding a few of the bottles of Twin Peaks themed ice tea (The Laura Palmer!) that she and her friend spent all night making! Each bottle has 10 twin peaks references for us to discover. And of course it has to be wrapped in plastic 😀
