Chocolate Chess Tart, Beatrix in North Melbourne

My friends Fiona and Tilly often tag me in facebook posts from this place called Beatrix, and they always have the most creative, delicious looking stuff! Today Tilly and I were passing through North Melbourne and we decided to stop by to check it out. And im glad we did! It was a great place!

Its a cosy little store, with a variety of delicious cakes on display. On their instagram page for today, they showed a picture of something called a chocolate chess pie, and they used the hashtag #piethinkiloveyou ! πŸ™‚ i love puns so i loved that! So when i was choosing what to get, i decided to try this chocolate chess pie!

But first i wanna show u a pic of the tables outside:

They had bottles of sunscreen for their patrons on each of the tables! I loved that. I had never seen this done before. Dont you love a place that cares about its patrons? πŸ™‚

Ok so this is what i had:

It was great! I loved that it wasnt too sweet, it was just right! And the pastry part of it was firm enough that i could pick it up and eat it that way if i wanted! (And i did take a few glorious bites this way!) The pie was just the right amount of moistness! Yes it was fab! And i got to try Tilly’s crumble that she ordered and that was delicious too!

So if u are around north mellbourne and are looking for somewhere to go for coffee and cake, i think Beatrix is a great place πŸ™‚ its at 688 Queensberrt St North Melbourne πŸ™‚

Code Black Coffee, Docklands

My friend Kodi recommended this place to me! Its a little cafe in docklands. It has such a fun and friendly vibe, I really enjoyed being here. I ordered a coffee and also one of the big milk chocolate cookies!

Look at that glorious thing! πŸ™‚ i loved eating it! There was actually a choice of three different cookies, but i went with this one because the lovely Francis who works here said it was her favourite, and it was already the one i was leaning towards, so easy decision! Mmmmmmm. It was yum πŸ™‚

And so was the coffee!

They also have baguettes and stuff if you want to have lunch here.

A really nice place. I had a great time here, especially on such a nice Spring day as today πŸ™‚ im glad i came to check out Kodi’s recommendation! Its on Karlsruhe Lane in Docklands πŸ™‚

Sweet Evelyn, charming cafe in Brunswick

I went on a big donut adventure day with Tilly, and one of my fav places that we visited was this one, Sweet Evelyn in Brunswick.
Its on a quiet street in brunswick and its such a charming place.

Mmmmm…. looks good right? Since we were on a donut adventure, i just ordered a cinnamon donut, a salted caramel donut hole, and a mocha!

And we chose to sit outside and they have heaters and provide little blankets. I love the little touches! πŸ™‚
And look..

Good stuff! I love a place that does nice coffee art too!
It was yummy, and the staff were so friendly. Oh and we found out that Sweet Evelyn is named after Evelyn, the owners daughter! I really love that πŸ™‚
I really liked this place. I think its one of my favourite places now. Id love to come back here for brunch in the future πŸ™‚

Travelled to Ancient Egypt :P Einsteins 251, caulfield north

Emily told me about this place! Its a cafe in caulfield north, where the menu has a middle eastern theme.

Its a cosy, charming place.

You know a place is special when the bathroom wall looks like that right? πŸ™‚

The staff were so lovely and helpful! Β  I ordered a mocha.

I love places that take the time to do nice coffee art πŸ™‚

I decided to order the Egyptian breakfast, simply because i love ancient egyptian history! πŸ˜€

This is what it looks like!

My first thought was how do i eat this? I made a start and then asked one of the lovely waittresses as they walked past and she explained it to me! I think the gist is that it involves dipping and eating it however u feel like! I can do that! πŸ™‚

When i was eating it, and dipping in the flatbread, it wasnt hard for me to imagine i was in ancient egypt, and some egyptian mum was making me a breakfast hehe! It was really different to anything id tasted before, unique spices! I looked it up later and the dish contains dukkah, which the internet tells me is egyptian and is a mix of nuts and spices. I had a lot of fun dipping my delicious flatbread and chowing down πŸ™‚

I cant wait to come back and try other items on the menu! They also do shakes!

And look at this artwork on the walls:

Logic will get you from A to B, but imagination will take u everywhere. Love it πŸ™‚

I found out about this place from Emily, she said it was one of her fav places! I came here a while back and tried the Persian Pancakes. And loved the place and the pancakes! But that was before i started this blog. Emily told me she had a new fav dish here, mushies with challah. So today i felt like checking it out!

Area Four (previously Naked Espesso)

Another place that Emily told me about! She finds the coolest places πŸ˜€ ok before we begin, lets get straight the amazing. Oh wait no, ill leave it to the end hahah!

This place used to be called Naked Espresso, but they changed their coffee from the naked espresso brand so they had to change their name too. But everything else remains the same.

Its a cosy little place on little bourke st. they were playing 50s type music when i was here, and i felt like i was in the Fallout world for a little bit hehe.. except there was nice pot plants hanging from the ceiling πŸ™‚

I read a review on zomato before i came by someone named Carissa Vicky i think, and she said that she ordered banana bread with butter and it was amazing, so i felt i had to try!

First i got a mocha!

I love the cool unique spoons πŸ™‚Β

And then i got the banana bread. I chose toasted, and with butter.

And omg it was so good!!! Possibly the best banana bread ive had πŸ™‚

And then we get to the little touch that i really love hahaha. Emily told me about this but i forgot about it until i saw it:

They give u a tiny teddy to go with your coffee!! I love it hahaah! Way to win me over! πŸ˜€

Area Four is at 390 little bourke st in the city πŸ™‚

Captains of Industry

Emily told me about this place! I love places that are sorta hidden. I think if you didnt know about this place, you might even walk past it without knowing it was there.

I love the unique and cosy vibe of the place. I love that there are sewing machines on some of the tables! The staff were so friendly and attentive πŸ™‚ the coffee was great! I even love the unique spoon that came with my coffee! I stared at it for ages. Roma! (Ive been there by the way eheheheh)

And then i ordered the three cheese sandwich that Emily recommended to me. Oh… yes! That was delicious!! Love at first bite hahaha

I love attention to detail and care. Look at this salt on the sandwich!

So good πŸ™‚

I like this place! Great place to come for a coffee or brunch! πŸ™‚ its at 2 Somerset place in the city (a few blocks from melbourne central) πŸ™‚
